Does anyone know where I can buy a plug adapter for my outdated air conditioner plug?

I live in an apartment and I have one of those built in and old air conditioners. The problem is the plug on the air conditioner has two horizontal prongs and the socket the plug was meant for is sealed up with paint. Does anyone know where I can get a specific type of plug adapter so that I can fit the plug into one of my regular sockets? Thank you.

The reason your air conditioner has a different style plug is not because it is old or outdated, it is because it runs at a different voltage than most of your home appliances.

The plug you described is a NEMA 6-15 which is used on 240/250 volt equipment - such as air conditioners.

If you were to change the plug and connect your A/C unit to a 120 volt circuit you would either blow the breaker, or burn up your A/C unit. Don't try it!
