I am traveling to goa can any one tell me what prepaid taxis are ,how do i reconize them at the air port? I am traveling to a place called Calangute for holidays and will fly into Goa {Dabolim air port} and have been told to get a prepaid taxis at the airport .How do i reconize them and where at the air port do i find them.
Just as you are about to exit Dabolim airport, there is a pre-paid taxi stand to the left. There is usually someone standing there asking if you want a taxi - say 'yes'! There is another stand outside, directly across the tarmac from the exit, but you might as well sort it out inside. The prices for various locations will be clearly listed on a sign - it will be about Rs. 600 to Calangute. If you want an air conditioned taxi, you'll have to request one and it may cost and extra Rs.100 or so. Once you've paid, you'll be given a receipt and directed to the taxi rank. Tipping is entirely up to you. If you feel the need to exchange money at the airport, change as little as possible - the exchange rate there is appalling. You can always ask the taxi driver to stop at an exchange place in Calangute (try the shoe shop on the main road near the new ICICI cash machine - the rates are generally quite good and you don't have to deal with passports and photocopies and such).
