Where to find AppleCare registration number and serial number for Apple hardware product?

I have received my AppleCare Protection Plan box in the mail, and am trying to set it up. I wasn't sure where to find the registration or serial number, so I checked the Apple website and it says there should be "a Web Registration Instructions card or booklet that says "Activate your coverage today" or "Web Registration Instructions" at the top" in the box. (That's directly quoted from the Apple website) However, I can find no card or booklet in the box, besides the Getting Started Guide, which doesn't seem to have any kind of serial number in it. Am I actually missing something, or am I just not looking hard enough?
