How can i retreive data from an ibook with a dead LogicBoard?
The logic board on my g3 ibook went dead, I can hear the computer start up, but the display is not working. Is there a way to retrieve the data witout paying for a new logic board? Also I still have one working ibook, is there an easy way to combine the two, like using the hard drive of the defective ibook with the working computer screen display? Or is there any external hard drive that can extract data just by pluging it in the computer?
If your iBook starts up try connecting it to a monitor or TV to see if it shows anything. If it does get an external drive and backup software to transfer the data to the external like SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner.
Last option that I know of, there might be more, is to remove the dead iBooks HDD and insert it to an external hard drive enclosure w/firewire ports. PPC Macs can boot off of external drives that have firewire ports, if the OS is installed in the drive, which the dead iBooks HDD has.
