Hi, thanks very much for any help you can give a new programmer. Using NetBeans on Mac OSX.
I have a JLabel. Assume it says "Game Paused." When the user meets certain conditions, I want the JLabel to say "" -- nothing at all. That much I know how to do.
But I don't know how to do this: test whether the JLabel has changed. In other words, I need to be able to say, "If the JLabel says Game Paused, then don't let user clicking affect these five buttons and text fields." What is the Java for that?
Keep a variable that tracks whether the user has paused the game. It's really hard to teach someone who's not familiar with Swing. Here's an example though. I'd try to learn swing first. Good luck with that.
