Is a 2' tall and 1.5' wide enclosure the right size for a baby crested gecko?

I am getting a baby crested gecko in a few months. I am building a 1.5' long, 2' tall, and 1' deep screen enclosure. I read that if the enclosure is too big, the baby crested gecko won't eat. I have a 10 gallon aquarium, but I am thinking of getting some fish for that. If the enclosure would be too big, then I can hold off on the fish, and put the gecko in the aquarium until he is big enough. thanks!
When I say baby, I mean about 2-3 months, give or take.
