question about joining the army?

I want to do nothing more in the world than to join the army but I was a really stupid kid a while back and did an "intentional overdose" it dosen't technically say attempted suicide. I was hospitalized for it. I was thinking about not telling them but I have a scar on my arm and wrist that has nothing to do with any of this and was caused by an accident with a fence so MEPS might go through my mental health records because of that? I'm so confused with what I should do. I REALLY want to get in I have family in the army I know I'm mentally stable and will be. It's stupid how doing something stupid as a kid can ruin everything like this. What do you think I should do? I don't want to tell a recruiter yet and then be PDQ'ed for the rest of my life.
