The Xbox 360core video gamre console coming from by Microsoft, developed in association with IBM, ATI, and SiS as a successor to the Xbox, was launched as a competitor to Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of gaming systems. Unveiled officially on MTV on May 12, 2005, it is the first console to provide a near-simultaneous launch across the three major regions and to provide wireless controller support at launch. The Xbox 360core console was a big hit in the market by recording a shipping of13.4 million units worldwide within just three months of its launching. The Xbox 360 Core was an entry level Xbox 360 priced at US$279.99. The "Core" is now replaced by the Xbox 360 Arcade. It was not available in Japan in the beginning, but was later released on November 2, 2006.
The Xbox 360core video game console comes with threw symmetrical core running at 3.2 GHz each. The product from Xbox has three hardware threads per core making it totally six hardware threads. The Xbox 360core console has 500MHz processor along with 10 MB of embedded DRAM. It also has a polygon performance of 500 million triangles per second. What is a 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Quad equivalent to in power?
I currently have a 1.8 GHZ Core 2 Duo that i know is equivalent to a 2.0 GHZ Pentium 4. So what is a 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Quad equivalent to in a Pentium 4. Thanks.
It's equivalent to about 4 Pentium 4s each running at 4GHz for a 2Ghz Core 2 Quad.
A 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo is definitely better than a 2GHz Pentium 4, even in single threaded apps.
The Core 2 architecture is about 2x more efficient than the P4's Netburst architecture and can output a lot more instructions in the same amount of time due to its better architecture design, despite its lower GHz.
(technical) This is for several reasons:
1. Core 2s tend to have more cache and a higher FSB speed than P4s
2. Core 2 has a much shorter pipeline than the P4's, which results in lower latency and higher instructions per cycle. 14-stage compared to the gigantic 31-stage one on the P4
3. Other general architecture improvements(improved branch prediction, etc.)
