I bought a new white 1.8 ghz macbook. performance very disappointing, even for simple stuff. is it just RAM?

and this machine is hyped as the fastest (low-end) laptop around, 5 times as fast as previous gens. I'm a mac fan, but have to say that my low-end dell outperforms this one. any ideas? thanks in advance

Is it a 1.8ghz core duo? If it came with 512mb RAM, you might want to upgrade to at least 1gb. I know people always say "Macs take less RAM, blah blah blah". Well, I am a life-long PC user, and I just bought a Mac for fun. I have a 2.0ghz Core Duo Macbook with 1.25gb RAM, and it flies. It doesn't run Adobe CS2 very well, because the universal binary hasn't been released. Other than that, it's fast.
