No, of course, you needn't, it waste a lot of money, because your laptop didn't damage. This guide will tell you how to replace the damaged HP Pavilion DV6700 LCD Panel.
Before you start, please turn off the laptop, unplug the laptop ac adapter and remove the laptop battery. The laptop LCD panel is mounted between the display cover and bezel. The screen bezel is secured to the display cover by six screws hidden under six screw seals. I circled these screw seals. Remove all seals with a sharp object and after that remove all screws found under the seals.
Start separating the HP Pavilion DV6700 LCD Panel bezel from the display cover on one of the top corners. Continue separating the laptop lcd panel bezel. The inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp hidden inside the HP Pavilion DV6700 LCD Panel. In most notebooks the inverter board is mounted below the LCD screen. In my guide I will not be removing the inverter board and because of that I will unplug only one cable from the right side.
Remove four screws securing the display hinges to the cover. Carefully separate the display assembly from the cover and place the LCD face down on the laptop keyboard. Now you can access the LCD cable connector. The LCD cable connects the HP Pavilion DV6700 LCD Panel to the the motherboard.
Remove the laptop lcd panel assembly from the notebook. As you can see, the screen still has two mounting brackets attached to the left and right sides. In order to remove the mounting bracket, simply remove three screws. Transfer the bracket to the new HP Pavilion DV6700 LCD Panel.

47" LCD tv repaired, doesn't look as good as before! did they LG rip me off?

i just bought a 47" LG 47lh85 LCD TV last month. i noticed that there was something stuck behind the lcd panel so i called LG and they had someone come in to replace the LCD panel. but now, i feel like the new screen looks "cheaper" than the one i had before. the color isn't as good, i cannot even notice the 120hz like i was able to before. also, there is about a 1/8 inch gap between the bezel and the image on the screen( before, the image went all the way to the bezel). my question is, did they put in a cheaper, or lower end model panel into my tv?? can they do that? is there anyway to find out if it is? and if so,is the 120hz in the panel, or does that have to do with the other hardware in my tv??
dang, i thought so harley. problem is, i bought it online. do you think they'll send me another one after a repair was made?

Funny--I fix these tv's every day. This tv is so new that the parts havent even made it to the normal secondary parts distribution system--meaning--you got a new part. Can they down grade it? Only if they were to change out both the panel AND the digital main in which case the only thing left is the power supply which has a minimal cost in the new LG's. The 1/8" gap--I'd have to see that one--I suppose a tech could install a panel slightly askew. If you mean all four sides--I can assure you that they don't make a 46 1/2" panel. Most likey the gap was there before but you hadn't noticed at the time--of course now you're scrutinizing every square inch (can you tell I've had this conversation before) They won't give you a new one unless a tech looks at it again (most likely)
