how do i install the Leopard OS on a Mac G4 ibook?

I have a Mac iBook G4 running on Panther 10.3.9. I have 512 ram and the 9 mb needed to install the software. I put the disk in and reset the computer but the installer doesnt come up. Can anyone help?
i meant 9 GB. sorry

while your computer is starting up hold down the "c" key and the installer should come up, but when you put the disk in can you open it with the computer started up? and then follow that menu to install it? 9mb or 9gb?
