im trying to reset my password on my mac powerbook. i think i made a mistake in going to firmware utility!HELP

I have been doing everything that i have read and been told t do for resetting my new mac powerbook. It alll seems simple enough and so WHY wont it work 4 me? Everytime I get to utilities it prompts for admin passode ven when restarting while pressing C and such........
yesterday I choose the firmware utility button which I didnt know then but from wht i seenow it adds extra security to just anyone being able to reset passcode from just any operating sys. disk. I think it makes it so the only disk that should work is the one it was installed with.
Is this true?
What else can anyone tell me about this situation?
ow do I get around this? How can i reverse my mistake in applying that application without putting in the admin code i keep getting asked for??

you appearently set up another password inside the utililty somewhere. i don't know where you made this password and only you would know.
thats about all i can do to help wich is no help at all. i never used a mac. i just see thats its asking for a pass because of some setting you changed when you altered something in the firmware utility.
