Internet Service Provider Question

I'm looking for an internet provider that can provide me with at least a 12mbps downstream and at least 3mbps upstream connection for around $80-$100/month. (Higher is acceptable) I currently have Comcast (8mbps down/2mbps up) However, the connection has been dropping far too many times. (On average every 20-25 minutes) It's a real problem when I'm gaming online; or downloading large files. I've tried getting a new modem/router, (didn't help) and I've checked the wiring and it's still in perfect condition. I've had Comcast come out and take a look at everything and they couldn't find anything wrong.

you should check with getting a T1 ran into your house if you're looking for that serious of bandwidth.

you're going to really pay for it (upwards of $150-$200 per month) but i think that's what you're looking for.

Comcast is about the best you can get in your area, you might actually want to check your router. that might be your problem... if you're that intensive about your bandwidth, check out the HotBrick router. it has a built in hardware firewall, and it's totally plug and play. it also has dual line capability.

along with the hotbrick, talk to Comcast and see if they can install a second modem and run two lines directly into the HotBrick 2 line router, and it will combine the bandwidth of the two. the people on your block will be irritated that you're sucking bandwidth like crazy, but it worked like a champ with a friend's RoadRunner setup. the router was around $200, and it has 2 in/ 4 out Gigabit, and you can easily plug in a switch to any of the four outputs and make your network even larger.

Comcast might laugh at you because you're running a server in your home, and they may try to force you to go to the business line, but, if you're willing to pay for it, it's definitely worth it.
