Install Apple Power Mac G4 MDD CPU in Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet)?

I want to upgrade my old Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet)'s CPU. It currently has a Dual 500MHz processor, and I want to upgrade it to around 1GHz. I have found some really CHEAP 1GHz Dual CPUs on eBay, but they say that they have been pulled from all MDD (Mirrored Drive Doors) G4s. Will the MDD CPU be compatible with my G4?

I don't think so. The GigEth PowerMacs use a different logicboard than the MDD, and I don't think they are compatable.

However, I don't have a lot of experience with G4 desktops and I can't say for sure. I recommend you check at the MacNN.com forums (it's free to create a log in and they really don't spam you or anything) and/or at the Apple Forum on CraigsList. There are a lot of new- and old-school Mac experts in those two rooms and they would not only know if it would work or not, but also be able to give you pointers about how to get it all set up correctly (if possible).
