I dont know much about macs, But my suggestion is to totally de-charge your battery, and recharge it. You may need to get some computer cleaner and clean your heat sinks and fans, it could be that there really dirty and need cleaning because your not getting good air flow to the processor... And the last think i would think is if your computer is running slower, you need to probably reinstall the software completely.. assuming your battery was fixed....
