The most sensitive part is the underside of the disc, from the edge of the disc to the plastic center.

The plastic center is not sensitive, you can scratch that and the disc should still work. Unless its really messed up and then then disc may not spin right.

the rest of the underside however is wher the information is stored, almost etched into the surface like a record. If you look carefully you can see where the actual information is. Its especially evident on a burned disc if you look before and after.
