Why does my PowerBook require a PMU reboot EVERY TIME it's powered up?
I have an old 15" PowerBook G4 which I'm trying to get fixed up before I sell it. The problem basically consists of it having little or no battery power, and requiring a 'SCOP' (Shift, Ctrl, Option, Power) to reboot the PMU every time I want to run it from the AC adapter. How can I fix this? Is it a simple case of replacing the battery? Any advice would be much appreciated and I can elaborate on the problem if needs be.

Your battery could be shorted out, not just dead. The pram battery could be dead. I'd suggest replacing the pram battery first (under $10), a new PowerBook battery is going to run you at least $129. 70% of the batteries on eBay are frauds or knockoffs, I'd skip them.
