You are Thinking Raid 5 - or Have a Raid 5 Failure Need Data Recovery?

But did you know:

If two disks fail the raid has failed

Most complex controller design

Difficult to rebuild in the event of a disk failure (as compared to RAID level 1)

How many drives have failed? are they logical, electrical or physical
failures. Are the drives a matched set. Do you know if the failure of
the two drives was at the same time or has one drive failed and the
second went out at a later date?

Keep the order of the drives - number them before removing any drives. This will cut down recovery time as this could be a 4 or 5 drive Raid and have many combinations if we do not have the drives in correct order.

Has the Raid been reinitialised? - if not DO NOT allow a reinitialisation

Are you able to supply the Raid controller?

Capacity of the drives (how many GB for each drive)
What type of drives (IDE ,SCSI, SATA)

Block Size used? (offset of starting block)
Details - additional RAID information - this could be getting in touch with the technician who set up the Raid - looking up any paper work left by a former employee. Then a list if possible of what the RAID holds file ext. ,database names, what makes this RAID 5 so important to recover.

Can the odor from RAID cause nervous system / brain damage?

I found a voluminous infestation of ants in my closet, and promptly sprayed them down with RAID Ant & Roach Killer. I turned on the fan, opened the door, and left the room, but did not open any windows. Approximately thirty minutes later, I returned to my room and sedentarily remained there for the subsequent remainder of the day, though I did shut the closet door. I could still smell the RAID for the proceeding several hours. Was I inhaling fumes, or was it just an innocuous odor produced by the product? Could this have posed any damage to my body, nervous system / brain? In addition, how long do the toxins linger at the site? Hours, days, months, years? Could the odor have caused any nervous system damage / brain damage? I do not recall a headache, dizziness, or other disturbance of consciousness - aren't those symptoms usually connotations of brain damage? Someone knowledgeable in this area, PLEASE respond, as the uncertainty is tearing me apart. Is odor dangerous, or just fumes?
