Will my iPhone's screen still be sensitive to touch if I remove the "glass"?

I dropped my iPhone 3G from 3 feet onto my kitchen floor, and the "glass" cracked. If i remove the "glass" and keep it off, will the touch screen still work, until i can get it fixed, cuz apple won't give me a free replacemet. They should know that people re going to drop their phones!

yes infact, probably even more sensitive because the touch panel is underneath the glass, apple can be evil, lol, damn that steve jobs! i mean if anything happened to my ipod touch i would want a free replacement, or repairs.
