I have owned several notebooks in the past but this is my first netbook. It is everything I could need and more than I expected. I did add more memory and upgrade the window 7 from starter. I travel for work and have also loaded MS Office pro and it works great.

Great computer, bought 2 for my kids

I got 1 of these for each of my kids which are 3rd and 4th grade. When they arrived I was pleasantly surprised at how solid they are and how well they perform. I wasn't sure what to expect with a netbook but I tested it out on hulu, youtube, flash based games & netflix run full screen without any issues; Microsoft office runs perfect, the only program that they use that is a little slow is iTunes (which seems to run slow on any computer in my opinion)I just order a 2gig memory upgrade which hopefully will take care of itunes dropping frames during movie playback. The battery life is great, they can watch movies during a 4+ hour car trip no problem. For longer trips I just have them plug into an inverter.

Great for daily needs

I bought this for my wife who didn't like lugging a laptop around for size/weight for simple things like web browsing. This works well for our web cam use (built in web cam does great) for skype calls to friends/family. She uses this for your office documents, as well as email and browsing the net. It lasts about 7 hours on a full charge, sometimes longer depending on if we're watching a movie or just browsing the web. My wife particularly enjoys how small and light it is, yet just big enough to be functional. I was looking at an iPad for her..but the price at 2x as much with less hardware specs and not being able to run more than one app at a time were all deal breakers. How anyone would want an iPad for $600+ over something like this is beyond me!

As good as expected

Battery lifetime was a must for my netbook, and this one really does it. 
I cannot tell exactly how many hours does the battery last, but for sure it is a lot and it never let me down. Definitely a thumb up for the battery. 
The performances are as expected: Windows 7 does its job and it is perfect for what it is supposed to do such as email, internet, word processing etc. 
Do not think about a cheap replacement for a traditional laptop, this is not what it is meant for. 
Keyboard has a correct size and quite pleasant to use. 
Mousepad responds well, just the click button is small and hard to press. 
The screen quality is good and so is the wifi connection. 
Bluetooh works very well and it connects and configures in seconds with other devices. 
The price is so reasonable and price/quality is definitely a go for it.

Acer Aspire One D250 - Windows 7 Starter - Great Value

Let me just start by saying I have been looking to get a netbook for a while now and have done my fair share of research. The Acer Aspire One D250 is one of the first I've seen to come with Windows 7 Starter pre-installed. If you don't feel like scrolling up, the basic specs for this netbook are:

Shipping was prompt and the packaging was excellent. Comes with an A/C adapter to charge this amazingly long-lasting 6-cell battery. Setup was a breeze, I literally had my desktop up and running within 5 minutes. Having Windows 7 Ultimate at home, I immediately familiarized myself with Windows 7 Starter. The only noticeable difference so far, which shouldn't be a deal-breaker for anyone, is that you can't change the desktop background. I don't know why this is the case but I'm fine with the simple blue Windows background. Surprisingly the Acer came pre-installed with a bunch of programs I really don't need (ie: Wild Tangent games, a shortcut to Netflix, eBay Worldwide, Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft Works, etc...). After spending some time uninstalling these, I installed the programs that really matter (such as Microsoft Office 2007, anti-virus, Adobe), and the loading times were impressive. I am looking into upgrading the Memory from 1GB to 2GB since I heard it is not too expensive and quite easy to install, but currently the speed is great. 

The Multi-gesture Touchpad really impressed me. For those of you familiar with the iPhone/New Macbooks, it is very similar when zooming in and out with the pinch of a finger, switching to the next picture by sliding your finger, and even rotating by moving your 2 fingers in that motion. Definitely a bonus. 

If you're looking to save a few dollars on this netbook, I recommend choosing the White or Ruby Red colors ($308.58 versus $329.99 for the Black / Blue versions). I am happy with my overall purchase as I am an avid Amazon consumer. I would highly recommend this netbook to anyone that is getting overwhelmed by the abundance of choices not only on Amazon but in stores in general. With its modern specs, this handy netbook is future-proof.

Excellent netbook--But disappointed with Amazon's customer service

This netbook fits my needs very well. Its great for air travel due to small size, light weight and long battery life. Keyboard is more than adequate. My gripe is with Amazon's pricing policies. Within days after receiving the netbook, I noticed that Amazon dropped the price by about 10%. A call to customer service was met with a "that's too bad for you" attitude. I asked the CSR to have a supervisor contact me. Never happened! I thought Amazon was better than that. Since then, I have used other vendors for purchases I probably would have made on Amazon where pricing was relatively the same. Loyalty is a two-way street.

just what I was looking for...

I purchased this model after several days of reading review and research and I'm glad I've picked a right one. This was my christmas gift for my daughter who just entered a high school and wanted computer she could carry with her in her backpack. This model has very long lasting battery and window 7 works great without any of vista's problems. It has been 2 months now since her school started and not once she wanted any help with the computer. I was initially impressed with the speed,fit and finish and the graphic. My daughter loves using the camera chatting with her friends while doing her homework. The skype and youtube works great. All in all I have no complaint about this model at all.

how to reformat my acer aspire 5610 AWLMi laptop??
its been 2 years since i've bought it and i'm starting to get certain software issues such as 'network place' not functioning >.>
so i was wondering how to reformat it. also i did not get any cd when i bought it and would like to know if i need to dwnlod drivers for bluetooh, wifi, webcam, etc in case i want to reformat it and reinstall windows XP

Most acers come with a recovery partition. It will restore your laptop to factory condition. The usual way of accessing this feature is to hold ALT+F10 when you turn the machine on. Should come up with Norton Ghost and will take about 5-10 minutes.

All drivers, and 'out-of-the-box' software will be restored.
